Gonzalez Reeds come from Argentina, where the climate allows exceptional cane to grow. The reeds are made and packaged in a very earth-friendly manner and meticulously made from the finest hand selected cane. They are french cut and filed and feature a larger reed area, which gives them distinctive heart and makes them more dynamic and durable. Each Gonzalez box contains consistently playable reeds that exceed the demands of the most discerning player.

However, their main asset is probably their consistency, since unlike many of their competitors, they cultivate their cane from one same plantation. With their “3 de mayo” plantation, the largest in the world, Gonzalez Reeds make sure they have plenty of raw material. This means that they can afford to use only the best cane and never sacrificing quality.
The Gonzalez GD reeds are made from a cane with a classic French Cut, not totally dis-similar to the Vandoren V12 in the silver box. They are made with a thicker blank and a larger diameter material than the standard clarinet reeds. This material is normally used in the manufacture of Alto saxophone reeds and can give a richer sound. They are the first Gonzalez reeds with a French Filed Cut, the GD's have a longer scraping area and more wood in the heel, therefore they are quite vibrant and long lasting.
