Depending on the materials used, saxophone necks can change the sound of your instrument
Examine the shape of the neck, especially on a tenor or a baritone. Unfortunately whilst playing one can exert, unwillingly, a certain pressure on the neck when blowing the mouthpiece. Under this pressure, it bends slightly, which may, among other things, affect the emission of one or more notes.
Always check the condition of the cork on which the mouthpiece fits. Is it very worn or too compressed? Does it fit inside your mouthpiece? Also, see if the neck fits well on the body and there is no movement at the joint. If this assembly is not sealed, air leaks will affect the accuracy and response of the instrument. Note that if the neck has a different finish than the body, it does not necessarily mean that it does not belong to the instrument.
