This series is available with two different beak versions: Traditional and « Profile 88 ». The difference between ”Profile 88” and Traditional mouthpieces is in the exterior angle of the beak. Therefore, the musician is free to choose the model which suits his purpose in terms of best playing position, easiest sound projection, greatest playing comfort, and the most controllable and precise articulation. The B45 is the universal mouthpiece. With an intermediate tip opening and a medium-long facing, it is appreciated by most clarinetists.The “13 series” mouthpiece was specifically developed for American clarinetists using A440 pitch.

Vandoren mouthpieces are well-known for being amongst the best in the world.
Each mouthpiece is polished to a brilliant finish. The final adjustment of the facing is done by staged diamond cutting tools. The tolerances of 4/10,000 of an inch are so small that, to maintain precision, the table is not polished. Each mouthpiece is hand finished at the baffle, walls, and tip rail. Master craftsmen finish and adjust each mouthpiece to surpass the most critical examinations of professional musicians. The mouthpieces are polished one last time (except the facing area) to eliminate marks and imperfections. The Vandoren name is then stamped in gold on the mouthpiece along with the model number.
Vandoren recommends using the following reeds:
- Vandoren traditional 2,5 - 3 - 3,5
- Vandoren V12 3 - 3.5 - 3.5+
- Vandoren 56 rue Lepic 3 - 3.5
