The "Manifestoes of the Reed Box" are periodic publications of opinion on the essential issues of our profession at the confluence of wind instruments and e-commerce.

This first opus is based on the text of our Newsletter of August 2018 announcing the opening of our Showroom dedicated to reeds and mouthpieces, it is a milestone in our development because it marks our switch from "Pure Players" to "multi-channel" internet sellers.

Beyond these technical terms, the question raised in substance is that of the opportunity, when you are well established on the Internet, to open a sales channel perceived as losing momentum.

In August 2017 we wrote these lines:

"Friends Musicians,

Our online offer has seduced you...

By abolishing distances, the Internet has allowed us to make ourselves known to you wherever you are and has given each of you access to our wide range of products.

[…]

... but we can do much more

Our ambition cannot be summed up in a simple provision of a catalogue of reeds, mouthpieces, scores and other accessories. Our deep vocation is to offer our musicians a global assistance to enhance their instruments and make their playing experience fruitful and enjoyable.

It is by listening carefully to your needs that we have defined the improvements to be made to our online offer but also made us aware of its endemic limitations.

[…]

From the virtual to the real, a gift for the 2017 school year!

We have detected in many of you the desire to try products before a possible purchase decision is made and to interact more closely with us in order to be guided in your choices.

Others have repeatedly told us of pressing needs for certain references because of deadlines (concerts, holidays, etc.) that the existence of a showroom could have satisfied.

Finally, just like secure browsing, a physical address in support of our site would dispel any fear, reluctance or hesitation that the Internet user might legitimately feel during a first purchase.

To ensure that these requests do not go unanswered, we are pleased to announce the opening of a showroom!

Nestled in the heart of Paris at 6 passage Rauch in the 11th arrondissement, this place is intended to become a space for exchange and sharing entirely dedicated to our musicians. »

Seen from this angle, our approach is in line with our vocation to offer musicians a global service and to create all the synergies of a multi-channel website / physical location strategy.

Almost six months after the opening, we are more convinced than ever of the validity of our decision, but the practice has posed a major challenge: getting out of our ivory tower and into contact with our customers. We have fully embraced this new dimension of our profession and the exchanges with each of you, saxophonist, clarinettist, bassoonist, oboist or harmonicist have been and still are a source of wealth, listening to your complaints, adding an empathic dimension to our profession, also allows us to refine our offer.

Consequently, if the actors who missed the Internet turn, clinging to an outdated economic model based on "musical hypermarkets", have been put in difficulty, those who, like us, claim a real role of assistance and support to musicians must open their doors to them and meet them.

We therefore thank all our customers, both those who continue to trust us on the Internet and those who, more and more numerous and from all over France and the world, have pushed the door of our showroom.
